Rosa Barba

A felt drape with cutout text, placed at a distance from the wall, is highlighted by a spotlight placed out of centre, throwing a shadow field on the white wall. The spotlight emphasizes the materiality of the felt drape but makes the text at the same time illegible; the words can be read clearly only projected on the shadow behind. The drape is both screen and projector, defined by the presence or absence of light on its surface. The light brings together the two levels of the image.
